THE BASILIAN ORDER OF ST. JOSAPHAT
HOLDS GENERAL CHAPTER
From June 27 to July 16, the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat held the First Session of its 2004-06 General Chapter, in Rome, Italy.
The Chapter, a series of meetings which takes place every four years, is a time during which Basilian delegates from around the world meet to review, evaluate and discuss their life and work in the various apostolates in which they are engaged.
This General Chapter was divided into two sessions, one which took place in 2004, and the other which will take-place in July of 2006. This special two-session chapter has been charged with the task of approving the final draft of the Basilian Statutes (Constitutions), before they are presented, for definitive approval, to the Apostolic See.
At the same time, the Chapter elects a new General Council which will oversee and direct, in keeping with the Basilian Statutes and the Chapter Resolutions, the work of the Ukrainian Basilians worldwide.
The General Council consists of:
