Parents Committee
On March 5, 1967, 28 families responded to an invitation to plan a program that would involve the children of the parish and their parents. This Committee was made-up of parents of children in the parish catechism (religious education) program and took-root in the early 1970s, under the guidance of Father Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM.
Important events organized by the Parents Committee are the children's Christmas party, the parish bazaar and the parish picnic. In May, the parents also make the arrangements for the First Solemn Communion Brunch, for the First Solemn Communicants and their families.
Members of the Parent's Committee organized and maintained a Children's Choir in the late 1990s and assisted in responding at the 12:00 pm Divine Liturgy.
Past President of the Committee, Willow Yakiwchuk, was instrumental in re-vamping the annual St. Nicholas Day Praznyk into a Family Fun Day. This event continues to be a successful and popular venue.
In May 2005, Valerie Chirko generously accepted the appointment to chair the Parents' Committee and in August, Father Isidore resumed the chaplaincy. We strongly encourage all parish families to asist her and the many others who continue to volunteer their time and effort.
